Welcome to No Bell Down! 16 October 2021 Kettlebell lifting has a special way of getting you out of your comfort zone. As we lift together, we’ll experience temporary discomfort, count our blessings, and give to others who are in greater need than ourselves. Workout and Format
Kettlebell Sport (or Girevoy Sport, as it’s known in Russia) has a long tradition and relies on strength, endurance, power, and technique. This event is a Kettlebell Marathon or Long Cycle Marathon. A single bell starts on the ground and is “cleaned” from between the legs to the “rack” and from there it is “jerked” overhead and the lifter performs a “lockout”. Then the bell comes down, swings between the legs and the lifter begins all over again. As the name of the workout implies, the bell is not set down on the ground again until the entire 60 minutes is complete! Supporters
This event is legitimately tough! We can use all the moral support that we can get. $15 donation gets you lunch off the grill (food and drink). Kids eat free. Please feel free to also make additional donations to the cause in your preferred lifter's sealed bucket. Drop in anytime during the lifting hour (11am-12pm) and hang out as long as you like: the kickoff, halfway, and last quarter are especially fun. Lifters
There are currently 4 divisions that you can lift in. 1. Relay Casual (can pass the bell off to a relay partner) 2. Solo Casual (you hold the bell the whole hour) 3. Finisher Attempt (must perform most of the set correctly with few errors to earn club rank) 4. Competitive (currently by invitation only) Read more about the divisions, rules, and format here: Rules and Format If you're on the fence about participating, don't worry! The only REAL rule is don't set the bell down. For a deeper dive into the rules, check out this video that we use for basic lifting judge training:

Charity
The heritage and ethos behind this lift is to experience temporary and deep discomfort, be reminded that many others are worse off than us, and support those who are taking compassionate action. This year No Bell Down has selected The Nazarene Fund as our charity. Their mission is to rebuild, restore, and relocate the lives of persecuted religious and ethnic minorities. They have completed notable work in the last decade helping refugees fleeing ISIS and have utilized that experience to rapidly pivot towards the Afghan-American crisis. You can learn more about The Nazarene Fund at www.thenazarenefund.org. 100% of donations collected by No Bell Down will be sent to The Nazarene Fund. Timeline
